Lazise

Lazise is a historic town on the southeastern shores of Lake Garda, just 25 minutes away from the city of Verona.

The name Lazise derives from the Latin “lacus” that it means village on lake. Lazise in fact was inhabited territory from the Iron Age, there were plenty of ancient stilt houses recovered in this area of Italy.

As a result of recent discovery of a thermal water source, in the near frazione (municipality-subdivision) of Colà there is a splendid thermal park in an 18th century villa called Garda Thermal Park. Another thermal spa on the lake is found in Sirmione

Lazise is a perfect spot for a holiday, the pedestrian area on the shore is stunning and the restaurants here are world class. Lazise is also one of the few settlements on Lake Garda that has a sandy beach.

The Scaligeri Castle of Lazise dating back to the 14th century is also well worth visiting.

Villa Pergolana can be found at the end of the promenade towards Bardolino, a bit outside the town. It was built in renascentist style on the site of an ancient monastery and inside we can find the church of Saint Maria delle Grazie, constructed in the 16th century. The Pergolana also hosts a famous honey festival each October.
