Desenzano

Desenzano del Garda with its 27.000 inhabitants, is Lake Garda‘s biggest settlement and only one of the two towns on the lake with a railway station. It is thus a very popular day-trip destination for Italians who come here from the nearby cities of Milan, Verona, Matua or Brescia. Due to the ferries operated on the main port of Desenzano near Piazza 25 Aprille you can get to the main towns on the lake from here at any time of the year.

The town of Desenzano is a great starting point to explore the lake, the two ports are buzzing and you can rent a boat or try out windsurfing, sailing or even scuba diving.

Being the largest town on the lake Garda, Desenzano is more lively, in the summer months the nightlife is quite lively and centered around piazza Malvezzi and piazza Matteotti.

The town has three beaches, Desenzanino, Spiaggia d’Oro and Porto Rivoltella beach, all of them have wonderful views as the town is located on the southern shore where the lake is wider.

Typical products found here are  wines (DOC Garda Bresciano, Lugana and San Martino della Battaglia), extra virgin Olive Oil and lemons.
