Riva del Garda

The town of Riva del Garda is one of the most outstanding spots on the lake. Located at the north-western corner of Lago di Garda, it is also one the largest settlements in the northern part of the lake.

The old centre of Riva del Garda will fascinate you with its works of art and architecture, witnessing to ancient history and a past rich in art and culture.

Riva is dominated by Mount Rocchetta (1,575 m)which rises steeply to the west, with Mount Baldo (2,218 m) to the east. This location makes Riva del Garda one of the most spectacular spots around Lake Garda. Due to its location winters can be cold but sunny and with some snow; summers are warm but rarely hot or sultry, with windy afternoons and scattered thunderstorms.

Famous for its climate, the landscape, with the unique natural charm of the spacious and sunny beaches, Riva del Garda is a meeting point for fans of many sports: sailing, windsurfing, climbing, mountain biking and hiking.

Riva is one of the main hubs for sailing on the lake, there are plenty of sailing competitions organization year-round here.

Things to see in Riva del Garda

The Rocca Castle

The Rocca Castle dates back to the 12th century and currently it is hosting the city museum and an art gallery. The building is one of the most imposing ones, a landmark of Riva.

Torre Apponale

Torre Apponale is an ancient tower, 34 meters high. To climb to the top of the tower to enjoy the beautiful views to the lake and surrounding mountains.

Palazzo Pretorio

Palazzo Pretorio was built in the 14th century by the Scaligeri Family, currently it is the site of the town hall.
